Collection Management & Public Accessibility

Public heritage for all.

Our mission: open up local heritage for everyone by making in-depth content publicly available in a visually appealing way, while adhering to stringent scientific rules. Let’s do it!

  • Client:

Erfgoedcellen Waasland, Meetjesland, Kempens Karakter & Noorderkempen

  • Industry:

    Public heritage preservation

  • Services:

Information architecture & Data analysis, Collective Access & Drupal development, Automated imports, Anysurfer

On the one hand, there’s CollectiveAccess, the Open Source tool for managing collections. Kunstmaan is an official partner of CollectiveAccess and cooperates actively with Whirl-I-Gig, its creator, on the continuous development of this internationally certified solution. On the other hand, the online collections need to be made accessible for the general public. Anyone who is interested in the subject, should be able to search through the collections, view and annotate (phototag) the available items, assess them, etc. using an intuitive and user-friendly interface.

Again, an Open Source solution proved to be the best option: Drupal, a leading Open Source content management system, allowed for easy integration with CollectiveAccess, opening up the collections for all to see!

And of course, "sharp design"

We always make a stand for good design. Public heritage might sound stuffy or moldy to some, with a good design this fascinating content comes to life, and becomes easy to access by even the most casual of users. Anysurferlabel? Soon!
